Overview

The American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) is a leading liberal arts college offering its international and high-achieving students an unparalleled American education in the English language in Eastern Europe.

In September 1991, AUBGopened its doors with a first-year class of 208 students and 16 full-time faculty members. The first American-style, undergraduate liberal arts educational institution in Eastern Europe, AUBG is a unique cooperative venture established with the support of the U.S. and Bulgarian government

More than half of the students in AUBG are international.  In Spring 2014, out of about a thousand students, 45% were from Bulgaria and 55% from countries like Russia, Albania, Mongolia, or U.S.

Accommodation

Residential Life at AUBG: 

  • All undergraduate students are required to live on campus as part of the university mission.
  • All first year students are assigned housing upon arrival. Requests for friends to live in a room together may be granted in advance if all students send an e-mail to reslife@aubg.edu requesting each other as roommates. A sample contract is available on the web pages. Upon arrival, all new students should go to the Skaptopara I lobby and check in to receive housing assignments and orientation information. 
  • The residence halls are a smoke-free environment and disability accessible.
  • Activity areas include aerobic rooms, music practice rooms, multipurpose rooms, billiard and ping pong areas, several television lounges, outside decks, kitchens, and cafes.

1.) Skaptorara I & II: $1390 (plus a mandatory $550 Student Activities Fee)
